792 cops promoted to higher ranks

BACOLOD CITY – A total of 792 policemen here and in Negros Occidental have been promoted to higher ranks in the simultaneous oath-taking, donning and pinning of ranks held nationwide last Monday.

Of the figure, 595 were from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), while 197 were from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

The newly-promoted personnel in the province were all non-commissioned officers composed of 30 Police Executive Master Sergeants (PEMS), 96 Police Chief Master Sergeants (PCMS), 87 Police Senior Master Sergeants (PSMS), 82 Police Master Sergeants (PMS), 206 Police Staff Sergeants (PSSg), and 94 Police Corporals.

Police Colonel Rainerio De Chavez, acting director of Nocppo, led the ceremony, which was witnessed by their respective families at Nocppo headquarters in Barangay Estefania here.

As he lauded the promotion of the provincial police force, De Chavez emphasized to the newly-promoted personnel that commitment is not just a word, it is an act.

Meanwhile, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo, administrative officer for the office of the City Director of the BCPO, said that 188 police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs), and nine police commissioned officers (PCOs) were promoted to the next ranks in a ceremony led by Police Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO director, at the BCPO covered court in Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Of the 188 PNCOs, 23 were promoted from Patrolman to Corporal, 33 from Corporal to PSSg, 48 from PSSg to PMS, 38 from PMS to PSMS, 23 from PSMS to PCMS, and 23 from PCMS to PEMS.

Brillo said that nine PCOs have been promoted from PEMS to Police Lieutenant.

Brillo said the newly-promoted Lieutenants will be assigned to the police stations as deputy station commander.

With their promotion, Brillo stressed that it comes with additional responsibility coupled with accountability.

“They should lead by example to their junior officers,” he said, as he congratulated them for the significant milestone in their career, which symbolizes their hardwork, dedication and commitment in upholding the values of law enforcement.
