ICPO turnover rites delayed until after SONA

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 confirmed that the change of command ceremony for the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) leadership has been postponed until after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, announced that the turnover rites would take place next week following the SONA.

“We cannot change horses in the middle of the battle. Let’s finish the SONA first. The order is prepared and will be released anytime after the SONA,” Wanky said.

As announced last week, Colonel Kim Legada, the chief of the Regional Plans and Strategy Division, will assume command of the ICPO, replacing Colonel Joeresty Coronica.

Legada, along with Wanky and Coronica, met with Mayor Jerry Treñas last week.

Wanky cited the “career advancement” of both officers as the reason for their relief and reassignment.

Both Legada and Coronica are members of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 2000.

Legada, a native of Passi City, Iloilo, previously headed ICPO’s Station 1 (City Proper) and Station 5 (Mandurriao) and the former Iloilo City Mobile Group.
