BACOLOD City – Ten former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental were given additional livelihood to aid them as they start anew in the society.
The Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communists Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC), in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB), facilitated the graduation of the former NPA rebels in Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II in Barangay Poblacion on July 6.
The rebel returnees, along with 10 other participants from ELCAC barangays of Guihulngan that were previously cleared from NPA, underwent a 15-day training.
Each participant during the training also received P160 per day.
In a statement, the 62nd IB said that it will continue its partnership and will support this kind of government initiative intended for the former rebels.
The unit also said that it will tirelessly give support to all the local government units and non-government organization activities, programs and projects to continuously sustain the peace and development in Central Negros.
