A teenage boy died after his motorcycle crashed with another motorcycle afternoon of Oct. 2 at Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
Police only identified the victim as Charles, 15, a resident of Barangay Lico-an, Barotac Nuevo.
Lieutenant Cedrick Cruz, Barotac Nuevo police chief, said the victim was on his way to the town proper when the incident happened.
As Charles was navigating Lico-an village around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, he suddenly swerved and encroached the opposite lane.
Cruz said the victim was speeding, thus, he lost control of the motorcycle.
“He was thrown off his motorcycle and could have hit his head on the pavement. He again banged his head on another motorcycle,” he said noting that Charles was not wearing any protective helmet.
The other motorcycle driven by Gilbert Apurada, 31, a seafarer from Barangay Dangulaan, Anilao town, only incurred minor damage.
Apurada was also not physically hurt.
The boy was rushed to Don Jose Montfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo town but was declared dead on arrival.
