19 close contacts of city hall worker positive for COVID

BACOLOD City – Nineteen close contacts of a job order employee of the city government here tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Bacolod City information officer Danny Dangcalan said the 19 are part of the 27 new COVID positive cases reported on July 25, 2020, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 148.

Dangcalan could not confirm reports if the 19 are all city government employees or some are kin of the patient.

Based on City Health Office records, the 27 new confirmed cases include 19 close contacts of one COVID patient, 3 locally stranded individuals, 3 Health Care Workers, and 2 cases of local transmission.

The Covid positive patient (Bacolod Patient No. 89) who infected the 19 is assigned to the General Services Office at the old city hall.

15 personnel of the GSO and 33 other employees of the different departments holding offices at the old city hall were subjected to swab tests.

Earlier, the mother and sibling of Covid Patient No. 89 also tested positive for the virus.

The two are also city government employees, the mother is assigned to the Office of Senior Citizens and the sibling works at the BAYS Center.
