21 face illegal gambling charges

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Twenty-one persons who played billiards in Brgy. Bolo here recently are facing illegal gambling charges.

Charges for violations of the Anti-illegal Gambling Law will be filed against Arvie Alvarez of Barangay Bolo, Mark Kenney Acla of Barangay Culasi and Juan Dillo of Barangay Li-ong, all here.

Also included in the charges are Gabriel Labrador, Julius Quistadio and Kent Julius Qiluistadio of Sigma; Joemarie Fegarido, Juan Paul Frial and Rusty Dela Cruz of Dumalag; Marlo Bunyag of Cuartero and Brian Coronado of Panitan, Capiz; Sebastian Pinol of Dingle, Juan Vernie Laborro of Lapaz, Iloilo City; Revic Longno and Romeo Pediuria of Jaro, Iloilo City; Antonio Porras of Janiuay, Iloilo; and Loui Flores, Jessie Dagumanpan, Reylan Sanggalan, Felix Paulino and Mark Ian Ureta of Antique province.

Recovered from the suspects were 2 billiard poles, 10 billiard balls, 2 cue cases, a cue bridge, score board, cellphone and P33,850 bet money.

According to Police Captain Arcer Monsera, Capiz Provincial Anti-Criminality Team (Capiz PROACT) chief, they received information that the group was conducting illegal gambling in the area.

The suspects are also facing violations of health protocols issued by the Inter Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease on social distancing and wearing of face mask.

The suspects are detained at the Roxas City police station.
