32 jail officers test negative of drugs

BACOLOD City – A total of 32 personnel of the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ)-male dormitory annex in Barangay Handumanan here were tested negative for drug use in the mandatory drug test held at the jail last Tuesday.

This was revealed yesterday by Senior Inspector Norberto Miciano Jr., jail warden.

All the personnel submitted their urine samples for the drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6 laboratory personnel Adonis Abueva and Rosemae Quiñonez around 8:45 a.m.

Miciano said the jail has 36 personnel but three had their rest days while the other one was on leave.

He said the drug test is conducted every quarter to ensure that 100 percent of the jail officers is drug-free.

We want to make sure that nobody from us is involved in illegal drugs, he added.

Since January, no personnel from the jail has tested positive for drug use or has been involved in the said illegal activity, the jail warden said.
