Thirty-six (36) barangays in Iloilo City remained free of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) for two consecutive weeks (Oct 1 to 19, 2020), according to the City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (CESU).
The 36 barangays are Hibaoan Norte; Hinactacan; Hipodromo; Inday City Proper; Jalandoni Wilson; Kahirupan; Kauswagan; Laguda, Lapaz; Legaspi Dela Rama; Liberation, Ma. Clara, Magdalo; Malipayon-Delgado; NHA 2 Mandurriao; North Avancena; Osmena; Rizal Estanzuela; Rizal Lapuz Sur; Roxas Village; San Agustin; San Felix; San Jose, City Proper; San Jose, Jaro; San Pedro, Molo; Seminario; Tanza Baybay; Tanza Bonifacio; Tap-oc Molo; and West Habog-Habog.
Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the 36 barangays for their efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as he also reminded them not to be complacent in implementing health protocols.
“We should not be complacent and ensure that health protocols are still strictly implemented. Every Ilonggo has a role towards achieving our common goal in ending COVID-19 transmission in the city,” he noted.
On Tuesday, Iloilo City initially recorded 27 new additional COVID-19 cases. Five of the new cases are City Hall employees.
Based on Covid-19 Regional Case Bulletin No. 206, Iloilo City has 3,449 COVID cases with 2,742 recoveries, 679 active cases, and 78 deaths. (ERS)
