There will be a huge chance that a Filipino will be crowned champion in the ongoing 2021 US Open Pool Championship.

PH greats Dennis Orcollo, Carlo Biado, Johann Chua, and Rodrigo Geronimo took their respective spots in the final Top 16 of the prestigious tournament in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Both Orcollo and Chua advanced with untainted records while Biado and Geronimo made it possible after grinding their way out of the loser’s bracket.

Orcollo took down some of the big guns in the sport including Oliver Szolnoki of Hungary with a score of 11-6.

Meanwhile, Chua, in order to advance to the Top 16, scored a momentum-boosting win against Mieszko Fortunski of Poland, 11-7, in one of the most heated battles of the US Open so far.

In the loser’s bracket, Biado had to take down compatriot Jeff De Luna, 11-6, and a sport staple, Jayson Shaw of Scotland, 11-8.

Geronimo on the other hand bounced back from a disappointing loss against Max Lechner, 11-2, after defeating Neils Feijen of Netherlands, 11-6.

Orcollo, Biado, Chua, and Geronimo will banner the PH flag today as they begin their campaign for US Open Pool supremacy.
