7 trafficked women rescued

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Seven women were rescued by police through Oplan Magdalena evening of June 17, 2019 in a resto bar and hotel on Arnaldo Boulevard here.

Acting on persistent reports of alleged prostitution and sexual abuses, members of the Criminal Investigations and Detection Group(CIDG-Capiz) led by Police Major Chris Arthemius Devaras and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) conducted an entrapment operations at Paolo Resto Bar and Elcid Hotel, popularity known as Paradise.

Police arrested Elcid Besana Dario, floor manager of the bar, after dealing with a confidential agent.

Dario allegedly offered the sexual services of a woman under his control in exchange for money.

Recovered from the suspect was the P500 marked money, P7,720 cash believed to be proceeds of the prostitution ring, and an unused condom.

The rescued women were brought to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counselling while the suspect was detained at the CIDG-Capiz detention cell.

Charges for violations of RA10364 or Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, a non-bailable offense, will be filed against him.

The owner of the establishment is at-large.
