After representing the country in numerous bobsledding competitions, Raymond Morales, Eugene Etrata, Rowell Quilla, and Rey Rubo Fernandez are back as active personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard.
As members of the Philippine National Bobsled Luge and Skeleton Association (PNBLSA), these PH athletes are currently serving their country as COVID-19 frontliners.
These athletes were deployed in different areas to enforce the enhanced community quarantine imposed in the Philippines to further strengthen COVID-19 safety measures.
They man the sea and riverine ports, passenger embarkation and disembarkation points, floating vessels, coastal communities, and maritime areas.
PNBLSA president Buddy Cunanan can’t be any prouder of his boys and is hoping that they will stay healthy and remain disciplined because their quest for a 2022 Winter Olympics berth is not over yet.
“The coronavirus is an unseen enemy and one that requires a different set of skills to defeat. I told them, do your service but take care of yourselves because we still have a lot to do,” Cunanan said.
