BACOLOD City – Seven persons were arrested over the weekend for allegedly engaging in illegal cockfighting amid the health protocols imposed during the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Negros Occidental.
In Hinigaran town, three persons were apprehended at Barangay Pilar yesterday.
Police recovered two fighting cocks, two gaffs, two scabbards, two leg bandages, and P460 cash.
In Sipalay City, four individuals were collared at Barangay Canturay last Saturday.
Authorities confiscated from them a fighting cock with gaff, and P300 cash.
The individuals were charged for violating protocols on social distancing due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and illegal gambling.
All suspects are detained at the custodial facility of their respective areas.
