Filipino hopeful John Vincent Moralde tested positive for COVID-19, his manager JC Managquil confirmed.
After flying to the US with hopes of inking a fight, the risky journey of the Filipino slugger ended in a bitter and painful result.
Moralde was supposed to square-off with hard-hitting Mexican Alexis del Bosque but everyone was shocked when Moralde did not show up during the weigh-in.
Stories started to go around but the news that Moralde contracted the virus was confirmed and announced by Sanman Promotion head, Mr. Managquil.
Currently, Moralde is in his hotel, under quarantine and isolation, where three of the other fighters in the card also tested positive.
Meanwhile, his companion Mark John Yap failed to obtain the needed weight for his fight after going over the limit of 128 pounds. Yap, who weighed in at 136.7 pounds, will no longer clash with Miguel Marriaga.
