BACOLOD City – Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) executive officer Frank Carbon said Sunday that it is now the community that will take the lead to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Carbon said the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) that was implemented here on Sept 8-30, 2020 helped slow down the virus.
Now that the movement of the public is allowed under the General Community Quarantine “the community has to take full responsibility that virus transmission is put to the minimum and eventually disappear,” he added.
“You and I are the main actors now, not the local officials.”
Carbon also said that BaC-Trac will help in the containment plan of Inter-Agency Task Force Visayas Chief Implementer Melquiades Feliciano.
Carbon said Feliciano and his nurse wife Mia has developed and implemented a COVID containment and business plan for the city.
“So far, it’s working,” he said
Carbon also said that city wide lockdown is not an option in the plan.
He also said the role of Feliciano is to capture the virus as soon as possible before it infects another person.
“Ours is to ensure that we don’t get infected.”
He further said that Feliciano injected science and lots of common sense in the fight against COVID.
“But most important he ensured that all players in the city hall and in the barangays toed the line. No superstars, only one implementer.”
