The Philippine women’s national football team just clinched one of their most memorable career milestones after posting their highest world ranking ever at 65th.

After ranking 67th last year, the Philippine Malditas jumped two places higher in the FIFA/Coca-Cola women’s world rankings after making it to the top five in several tournaments they joined last year.

During the ASEAN Football Federation Championship (AFF) and the Southeast Asian Games last year, the Malditas settled for fourth-place finishes that helped in their total points and ranking.

“The ranking is a reward for the hard work and sacrifices of the people involved in women’s football in the country especially the players and coaches and of course, the PFF Women’s Committee,” said Philippine Football Federation president Mariano Araneta.

The Philippines is currently ranked 11th among member nations of the Asian Football Confederation, and fourth among Southeast Asian teams.

The United States women’s national football team still remained supreme at the number one spot while joining the Malditas who got ranking promotions are Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Fiji, Cuba, Gambia, and Comoros.
