19 firecracker-related incidents recorded in Negros Occ, Bacolod

BACOLOD City – Police reported 19 firecracker-related incidents here and in Negros Occidental during the holidays.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) reported 17 incidents from Dec 24, 2021 to Jan 1, 2022, while two others were reported by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Jan 1.

For the province, the victims were five boys aged 7, an eight-year-old boy, two more boys aged 11, a 13-year-old boy, and eight others, including a female aged 22 to 60.

These victims were wounded outside the firecracker zone, according to the police.

Three were injured by boga cannon in the cities of Escalante and Silay, and E.B. Magalona town; one by whistle bomb in San Enrique town; two by triangles in San Carlos City and Pontevedra town; one by candle bomb in Bago City; one by Kamara in Silay City; one by Katay in Candoni town; two by kwitis in Cadiz City; two by five-star in Candoni town and Talisay City; two by pasirit or sparklers in Talisay City; and two unidentified firecrackers in Talisay City.

For Bacolod, a 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy were injured by unidentified firecrackers, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Lester Leada, BCPO’s head of Operations Management Unit.

Both police offices have not recorded any stray bullet or indiscriminate firing incidents.
