Another taxi driver figured in a robbery attempt early morning of March 1, 2022 in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Police identified the victim as Harold Bryan Loredo, driver of Jhelord Taxi with license plate ANA-1293.

The 34-year-old Loredo of Barangay Tagsing, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo picked up a male passenger around 4:03 a.m. Tuesday in front of a church in Jaro district.

The passenger wore a black t-shirt, maong pants, a cap, and facemask. He told the driver to bring him to Leganes town.

But as they were passing through Zone 7 in Buntatala village, the passenger declared the heist by telling the driver, “Kuarta lang akon. Hold-up ni.”

The suspect then grabbed Loredo by the neck.

The victim resisted and escaped from his assailant’s grasp.

Loredo then alighted from the vehicle and shouted for help, which caused the suspect to panic and escape empty-handed.

Meanwhile, Captain Eduardo Siacon, Jaro police chief, said they presented two persons to Loredo but the latter failed to positively identify any of them as the would-be robber.

Two days ago, another taxi driver was a victim of a botched robbery.

Jemly Capiltan, 35, driver of Kaolikhan Taxi and resident of Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Tabuc Suba suffered multiple minor injuries after he resisted knife-wielding robbers.

The incident happened along Locsin Avenue in Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro, Iloilo City.

In a follow-up operation conducted by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Intelligence Section, one of the suspects was arrested at 11:00 a.m. at his house in Barangay San Isidro.
