BACOLOD City – Two men were arrested in a buy-bust at Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport here last Monday with the police confiscating about 67 grams of suspected shabu worth P455,600.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested the subject identified as Edwin Alvarez, 55, and his alleged cohort, Ronnel Dayanan, 37, a pedicab driver, both residents of the said village.

Lieutenant Joeven Mogato, CDEU head, said Alvarez was arrested for a drug offense in 2018 but was released in December 2021 after his case was dismissed when the police officer who handled the case was killed last year.

Mogato said that Alvarez is identified as a high value individual, while Dayanan is a street level individual.

“Upod na sila duwa baligya, daw sulugu-on niya na si Dayanan,” Mogato added.

Also recovered from them was the P1,000 marked money. Both are detained at Police Station 8.

Mogato said they received information based on their monitoring that the illegal drugs were sourced out outside Negros Occidental through a seaport in San Carlos City.

Mogato said that Alvarez has been staying in his in-law’s house for three months now since he was released from jail.

Meanwhile, Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 lauded the operatives for the said operation as he urged them to continue their effort in the campaign against illegal drugs.

It is our dream to make every community peaceful, orderly and drug free, Dongbo said.
