Terrence Romeo is ready to shake off some court rust and reintroduce himself to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
After missing the previous PBA season due to a hamstring injury, the star guard will be activated once again and just signed a fresh contract extension with the San Miguel Beermen until 2025.
Romeo is yet to return to the hardwood since March 18, 2022 when the Meralco Bolts took down San Miguel during the Governor’s Cup.
After the Governor’s Cup, the flashy guard still missed the All-Filipino conference after revealing the underlying back injury that kept him out.
Romeo already showed he is fit to play again when he balled out during the PBA On Tour Preseason tournament several months ago but still under a playing time restriction.
Now that he is at 100%, the flashy and crafty point guard will be a huge boost to San Miguel’s championship campaign once the PBA 48th season kicks off this November.
The Beermen badly missed Romeo’s services during their last import-laced conference bid and failed to win a championship despite a healthy June Mar Fajardo, Chris Ross, and Marcio Lassiter.
Romeo will look to lead San Miguel’s young backcourt squad composed of Jericho Cruz, Allyn Bulanadi, and Kyt Jimenez, their newest rookie who was picked in the last round of the draft.
Before the development, Romeo was supposed to play for the Gilas Pilipinas men’s national basketball team after he was called up by head coach Tim Cone to be a part of the pool that will travel to Hangzhou, China and battle in the Asian Games.
However, in a shocking sequence of events, Romeo, together with Calvin Abueva and Jayson Perkins, wasn’t allowed by the Asian Games organizing committee to play for the PHL due to ineligibility issues.
