The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Mobile Team of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office registered 1,152 individuals as new Philippine National ID registrants in the second (2nd) quarter of 2023 through PhilSys Step 2 Registration.
The figure includes 103 were senior citizens and differently-abled persons (8.9%), and 61 were pupils (5.3%) from daycare centers.
PhilSys Step 2 Registration is one of the processes in registration for PhilSys ID, including validation of supporting documents, collection of biometric information, and verification of the data they provided during Step 1.
PhilSys-Guimaras conducted the registration process house to house in the five municipalities and various daycare centers, registering 5-year-old and over daycare pupils.
In the second quarter of 2023, 1,152 individuals registered, or 15.69 percent of the total 7,300 target registrants for Q2 2023.
“The highest number of registrants came from the municipality of Buenavista, with 445, or 38.63 percent of the total of registrants from Q2 2023. Followed by Jordan Fixed Registration Center (FRC) with 413 registrants, or 35.85 percent, and 149, or 12.93 percent, from Nueva Valencia,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
“The least number of Guimarasnons registered in the PhilSys Step 2 Registration was from
San Lorenzo and Sibunag, with 94, or 8.16%, and 51, or 4.43%, respectively,” Losare added.
Among the total PhilSys registrants in Q2 2023, 74 were senior citizens while 29 were differently-abled persons.
“The team is exerting efforts to register more senior citizens and differently-abled persons, so, the PhilSys Guimaras Mobile team still continue on registering more individuals from every municipality in the succeeding quarters to attain their target registrants,” Losare said…
As the registration process continued, the PhilSys Guimaras team also strengthened its information dissemination campaign by distributing PhilSys advocacy materials to private and government agencies in the province.
“The PhilSys advocacy materials consist of EO 162, MC 95, PSA Advisory, PhilSys Check Handbook, Philsys Stickers, and PhilSys Flyers. The IEC materials educate and provide awareness about the implementation and integration of RA 11055, otherwise known as the Philippine Identification System Act, into their databases, systems, and services,” Losare said.
“These materials also support the acceptance of national ID in all transactions that require valid proof of identity using only physical PVC cards, national ID, or printed ePhilID, eliminating the need to present other forms of identification,” Losare added.
As the number of registrants who have already received PhilID and ePhilID is rising, the number of complaints for non-acceptance of national ID (PhilID or ePhilID) also increases, hence, PhilSys Guimaras has started and strengthened the distribution of IEC materials since Q1 2023.
“The PhilSys Guimaras distributed to a total of 150 agencies, private and public, 22 government offices, 37 private agencies (esp. remittance centers and banks), and 91 barangays in the province,” Losare said.
