BACOLOD City – Tragedy struck last Friday when a nine-year-old boy drowned in an irrigation canal at Purok Lopues, Barangay Dulao, Bago City, in Negros Occidental.
The boy was bathing in the canal when his mother momentarily left to care for his one-year-old brother inside their home. Upon her return, she discovered her son was missing. The strong current had apparently swept the boy away.
An immediate search and rescue operation ensued. The boy’s body was eventually found at Purok Paho within the same village, 1.5 kilometers from their residence.
He was taken quickly to Bago City Hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
