More than P8.1 million worth of shabu was seized in a single day of anti-illegal drug operations in Western Visayas.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, credited this success to active community involvement and vigilance in the battle against drugs.
While acknowledging the bittersweet nature of this accomplishment, Wanky chose to view the large-haul operations as a testament to the PRO-6 cops’ dedication, hard work, and commitment to service.
“With this, I commend everyone involved,” he said.
Following the successful operations, Wanky encouraged PRO-6 personnel to continue pursuing the remaining individuals involved in the illegal trade.
“It is our goal to put them behind bars to ensure our streets are free from the menace of illegal drugs,” he said.
The region’s top cop also urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs to the nearest police station or through the PNP hotline numbers.
“The cooperation between the police and the community is vital in our sustained effort,” he said.
It was noted that different PRO-6 units seized around 1,194 grams of shabu valued at P8.1 million in a series of anti-illegal drug operations within 24 hours on June 11 and 12.
The 13 operations conducted regionwide resulted in the arrest of 23 persons.
The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU6) logged the most arrests with nine, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with six; Negros Occidental with four; and Capiz PPO, Guimaras PPO, Bacolod City Police Office, and Iloilo City Police Office with one each.
Iloilo PPO reported the highest confiscation of around 724 grams of shabu with an estimated drug price of P4.9 million.
