Que Dominates to Win ICTSI Pradera Verde Title

Angelo Que

LUBAO, Pampanga – Angelo Que delivered a masterclass in strategy and precision, cruising to a six-stroke victory at the ICTSI Pradera Verde Championship with a closing 68 at the challenging Pinatubo course on Thursday.

The three-time Asian Tour winner held firm against tough course conditions, executing a flawless game plan to secure a wire-to-wire win over rising star Carl Corpus.

Que’s triumph was all but sealed after a gritty 71 on Wednesday, where he navigated strong winds and unforgiving terrain to maintain a three-shot lead.

The final round of the PHP2.5 million tournament, organized by ICTSI, turned into a coronation march as Que masterfully handled the 7,400-yard layout to clinch the title with a 10-under 278 total.

Unlike his rivals, who struggled on the newly unveiled Mike Singgaran-designed course, Que stuck to a calculated approach, reading the greens with precision and capitalizing on key scoring opportunities.

“The highlight of my week was my putting – I sank so many putts today. Even on the last hole, I wasn’t really trying to make the putt from about 24 feet, but it still dropped,” Que said. “I believe my putting was the key to my win this week.”

Que also credited his victory to his strategic mindset, emphasizing the importance of knowing where to miss.

“If you miss it in the right place, you can still manage to save par,” he said.

While others wavered between aggression and caution, Que struck the perfect balance, making clutch putts and staying composed despite swirling winds that made the course play even longer.

Entering the final round with a three-shot lead, he remained steady, matching Corpus shot for shot to maintain his control over the leaderboard.

“The plan was to match Carl’s game, and I was able to do that throughout the round – that’s why I won,” Que said.

Birdies on Nos. 4 and 7 widened his lead, while Corpus struggled to mount a serious challenge. Even a bogey on No. 8 didn’t faze Que, as he immediately bounced back with a birdie on the next hole and sealed his win with back-to-back birdies down the stretch for a 35-33 card.

Corpus, fresh off a runner-up finish at Q-School, finished solo second at 284 after his fourth straight 71, earning PHP295,000.

Q-School top finisher Jaehyun Jung mounted a strong late rally with two backside birdies, closing with a 70 to finish solo third at 286, taking home PHP170,000.

Aidric Chan fired a four-under round but bogeyed his last two holes, settling for a 70 to tie Guido van der Valk (73) at fourth place with a 289 total.

Lloyd Go (71) and Keanu Jahns (73) shared sixth at 292, while Ryan Monsalve (74) placed eighth at 294.

Michael Bibat staged a late comeback with a 71 to tie Tae Soo Kim (73) at 10th place with a 295 total.

For Que, the victory adds another prestigious trophy to his collection, which includes wins at the Philippine Masters, Philippine Open, and three The Country Club Invitational titles.

At 46, he remains confident in his ability to compete at the highest level.

“Maybe around 23 to 25 titles – I haven’t kept track, but I believe at my age, I can still win, and I proved that this week,” he said. “I’m strong and healthy, and mentally, I have the experience to compete with the younger players.”

With PHP450,000 in prize money and another championship under his belt, Que made a resounding statement that his dominance in Philippine golf remains unshaken.
