Aklan town’s most wanted nabbed after 17 years of hiding

The No. 3 “most wanted” person in Balete, Aklan was arrested in Quezon City after 17 years of being on the run.

Rufino Quindong Jr., a native of Sitio Mapait, Barangay Aranas, Balete was collared at 147 Visayas Avenue, Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, Metro Manila 9 am of September 2, 2021.

Officers from Balete Municipal Police Station and other units in Police Regional Office-6, Aklan, and Metro Manila police served the warrant of arrest against Quindong Jr. for two counts of rape docketed as Criminal Case Nos. 7160 and 7162.

The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 3 Judge Sheila Martekino-Cortes of Kalibo, Aklan on June 28, 2004. He was not allowed to post bail

According to reports, the case was filed in 2004 by a 15-year-old complainant but Quindong Jr. escaped and went missing for 17 years.

Operatives then received information that the suspect was in Luzon with his family.

Quindong Jr. is presently detained at Police Station 14 Police Community Precinct 1 Quezon City Police District for documentation prior to his turnover to the court concerned.
