One of the most accomplished point guards in the history of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is ready to take center stage once again.

After suffering a torn achilles nine months ago, Alex Cabagnot is all set for a comeback and will reinforce the struggling Terrafirma Dyip in the upcoming 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Terrafirma’s head coach Johnedel Cardel confirmed the recent development and shared that Cabagnot was already present in their practices and tune-up games.

“Okay na si Alex, lalaro na siya. Parang hindi siya nagkaroon ng injury. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ingat ingat din siya. Alalay naman siya,” said Cardel.

Cabagnot will be looking to revive Terrafirma’s winning ways after finishing the PBA Philippine Cup without a single win.

It was also an unfortunate conference for the Dyip after losing key players in Ed Daquiaog, Isaac Go, and Juami Tiongson due to injuries.

“Excited na nga siya. Siya ‘yung unang na-injured sa amin. Tapos sunod sunod na. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, kailangan makakuha na tayo ng panalo kasi last time, na-zero kami dahil sa mga injuries, mga importanteng player pa ang nawala,” added Cardel.

Also boosting Terrafirma’s bid for a better conference and a possible post-season success is their ever-dominant import Lester Prosper.

Prosper was a candidate for the 2019 conference Best Import award after averaging 33.6 points, 16.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks per contest during his debut season with Terrafirma.

Prosper’s stellar PBA run then paved the way for his numerous offers overseas including the Indonesian national team’s decision to make him their naturalized player.
