KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental – The Amper family made history on September 4, 2024, when they received their Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-issued birth certificates, breaking the record for the most simultaneous birth registrations under one household in Negros Occidental.
The eleven family members, including both parents and their nine children, availed themselves of the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) provided by the PSA, in partnership with the Kabankalan City Local Government Unit through the City Civil Registrar’s Office. They surpassed the previous record of seven registrations at one time.
Julito B. Amper, head of the household, expressed gratitude to PSA Negros Occidental and the City Civil Registrar’s Office for making civil registration services more accessible, especially to residents in remote areas.
Amper explained that their delayed registration was partly due to the challenging location of their home, which is approximately an hour and a half from the city center, including a 20-minute trek from their house to the barangay proper.
Representatives from PSA Negros Occidental and the City Civil Registrar’s Office of Kabankalan City, led by Acting City Civil Registrar Monalisa D. Tabujara, presented the family with their birth certificates on September 4.
Additionally, the family received tokens of appreciation from both the PSA and the local government.
BRAP is one of the many projects implemented by the PSA in collaboration with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and local government units.
The initiative primarily aims to increase civil registration in marginalized communities, particularly among Indigenous People (IP), Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sectors, ensuring all Filipino births are registered with Local Civil Registry Offices.
