BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) was again hailed as champion in the 2nd Regional Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) competition this year.
This was based on the results obtained by Daily Guardian from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) yesterday.
The BCPO bested seven other police offices and a mobile force unit in Western Visayas, with an over-all score of 459.16 points.
It is the second win of the BCPO in the said competition held at Nocppo headquarters here last Tuesday, since the first CDM competition organized by Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 in Iloilo City last year.
The team is composed of 95 members with other support units led by Police Major Sherlock Gabana.
Contingents ranked first in the execution of eight formations to include standby column, single line, double line, umbrella or cover, wedge, double wedge, arrow, and box, with a score of 228 points.
They ranked ninth in the presentation of uniforms and equipment, with a score of 17.16 points, while they placed sixth during the showcase of their skills in a protest scenario, with a score of 214.50 points.
Meanwhile, Gabana said he is thankful for the participation and contribution of the CDM contingents for their win.
Moreover, Nocppo’s CDM led by Police Major Robert Dejucos ranked sixth among the nine participants. They placed third in the presentation of uniforms and equipment, while they ranked fourth and seventh in the scenario phase and execution of eight CDM formations, respectively.
Iloilo City Police Office ranked second with 449.29 points, followed by Capiz Police Provincial Office with 427.70 points, Regional Mobile Force Battalion – 6, and other provincial police offices of Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, and Guimaras.
The competition is being held to train policemen how to manage difficult scenarios and to exercise maximum tolerance against aggressive individuals in case of protests and other street chaos.
