BACOLOD CITY — Officials of Barangay Singcang-Airport announced the donation of a 500-square meter property for the new location of Police Station 8.
The decision followed a meeting between Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito, Kagawad Dennis Perma, chair of the Committee on Peace and Order, Police Major Eugene Tolentino, the station commander, and Police Major Peter John Pesuena, administrative division chief of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6.
The designated lot is adjacent to a new SM development site at the former Bacolod Airport runway in JR Torres Subdivision. The barangay owns a 4,000 square meter property in the vicinity.
The barangay plans to provide the land to Police Station 8 under a contract of usufruct through the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
They will seek funding from Bacolod Representative Greg Gasataya to construct a three-story building, meeting the standards of a Philippine National Police (PNP) facility.
Currently housed in a temporary space provided by Barangay Pahanocoy, Police Station 8 serves Barangay Singcang-Airport, Tangub, and Pahanocoy.
Tolentino expressed optimism about the new development, noting that the necessary documents are being processed to proceed with the plan.
He hopes construction will begin within the year and mentioned that the existing building might serve as a sub-station once the new facility is operational.
