Capitol employees told to support incoming governor

BACOLOD City – Outgoing Negros Occidental  Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. ordered all departments and offices of the provincial government to support and cooperate with the incoming administration of Governor-elect Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson.

Acting provincial administrator Lucille Gelvolea said Marañon issued the order during the 2019 direction-setting session in Hinobaan over the weekend.

“We are going to follow his tag-line ‘Unity and Continuity’,” Gelvolea added.

An executive order creating a transition team was issued as early as the first week of May to ensure “a smooth turnover.”

“This is in compliance with a circular of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), to ensure that the turn over to the new administration of Lacson will have no problem,” Gelvolea said.

The new governor will assume office noontime June 30, 2019.

Gelvolea said the transition team is chaired by the governor and co-chaired by provincial planning officer Ma. Lina Sanogal, and composed of the different heads of departments and offices, local DILG and PNP heads as well as a representative from the business sector.

The task of the transition team is to prepare all inventories and status of all programs and projects to brief the incoming administration; inventory of all assets of the provincial government; ongoing linkages with national agencies and programs with foreign governments, she said.

Gelvolea also said that they will start the transition in June and complete it before the governor steps down from office.

“We are ready if the team of the incoming governor will have other concerns,” she said.

All the staff at the Office of Governor, particularly the co-terminus positions of the Provincial Administrator and Provincial Legal Officer, will be replaced.
