BACOLOD City – A notorious hitman was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest from the authorities in Barangay Malabugas, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental last Monday following a month-long surveillance, casing and intelligence work.

Police identified the suspect as Alex Manegos Mayagma of Barangay Minaba.

According to a report from Police Regional Office (PRO)-7, Mayagma was the top most wanted person in Central Visayas.

Mayagma has pending arrest warrants for four murder cases all issued by Presiding Judge Maria Myla Rae Santos Orden in Bayawan City.

Also, he has two warrants of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law, and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

Based on a report of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), the suspect was cornered in a game farm.

However, he allegedly pointed his firearm toward the police officers when approached by covert operatives.

The policemen scuffled with Mayagma and were able to disarm him.

However, the suspect attempted to pull out his other weapon hidden inside his sling bag, prompting them to open fire.

The suspect was brought to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

In a statement, Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, PRO-7 director, said this notable accomplishment that led to the arrest of the top criminals in Central Visayas was the result of tedious intelligence driven-operations.

“To the people of Negros Oriental, as promised by this government, your PRO-7 will conduct bold and impactful operations against hardened criminals to swiftly serve justice to those victimized by heinous crimes with the assurance that violence and lawlessness will have no place in your beloved province,” he added.
