The Iloilo City government has implemented a flexible work schedule or “flexi-time” for all its regular employees.

Memorandum Order No. 62 issued by Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the implementation of the flexi-time starting Feb 17, 2020.

Under the memorandum, employees who come in late by 8:30 a.m. are allowed to make up for their tardiness until 5:30 p.m.

“Employees are allowed to be tardy not to exceed 30 minutes after 8:00 a.m. for them to be able to make up for the tardiness after 5:00 p.m. When tardiness is more than 30 minutes a day, an employee is not allowed to make up for it in the afternoon and shall be deducted from his/her leave credits,” the memorandum said.

Treñas said the memorandum is in response to the request of the Resource Employees Association of the City Hall (REACH).

“For the welfare of the working force in the Iloilo City government and as per Resolution No. 11 series of 2019 of the Resource Employees Association of the City Hall (REACH) effective today, a flexi time will be adopted by the employees,” read part of the memo.

He said he approved the request considering that many employees in the City Hall have responsibilities in their respective families.

Gin-approbahan ko na kay kis-a may mga nanay da, gina-oblegar mga balon sang iya kabataan kag ang mga tatay they have to bring their children to school so gin-approbahan ta na,” Treñas added.

A flexible work schedule has also advantageous effect to the well-being and performance of the employees, according to the mayor.

“It is observed that developing a flexible work schedule has more advantageous effect on the attendance, productive and morale of the employees,” he said.
