The Business Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD) along with other offices from City Hall, has conducted a total of 1,157 joint inspection to new business establishments this 2019.
Out of 1,157 inspected business establishments, 477 were registered in 2018 as new businesses but were only inspected this 2019, while 680 were inspected this year out of the total 992 new businesses.
“Part of the business permits and licensing system is to conduct joint inspection with various offices. The inspection team visits business establishments which were given business permits to check if they are really compliant with the requirements,” BPLD chief Norman Tabud said.
The joint inspection team, composed of BPLD, City Treasurer’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals, City Health Office, and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), visits all new businesses in the metropolis after 30 days that the business permit was issued.
“During their application for permits, these businesses have declared things in relation to their businesses. The joint team ensures whether or not the businesses are compliant with zoning, building code, their capitalization, floor area, and others which would ensure public safety,” Tabud stated.
In case the business establishment is not compliant, the joint inspection team issues a notice which the business establishment needs to comply in 10 days.
“In case they fail to comply after 10 days, we issue second and final notices before we revoke the business permits,” he added.
Tabud said the inspection to new businesses is made once a year. (PIO)
