Almost 30,000 Ilonggos are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as the city continues its massive vaccination rollout to inoculate majority of its population and achieve the desired herd immunity.

As of July 21, 2021, data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that 29,612 individuals have been fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines – 28,111 received Sinovac jabs while 1,501 were inoculated with Astrazeneca. This is equivalent to 6.58% of the 450,000 target population of the city government.

Meanwhile, 113,934 received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, particularly Sinovac (89,282); Astrazeneca (17,616); Pfizer (5,186); J & J (1,190); and Moderna (660).

The more than 113,000 Ilonggos who were inoculated with their first dose of vaccines represent 25.31 percent of the target population.

The continuous vaccine roll-out were administered in designated vaccination sites – Iloilo Convention Center (ICON), Megaworld, SM City Iloilo, Robinsons Place Jaro, Central Philippine University (CPU), Ateneo de Iloilo, University of San Agustin (USA), and University of the Philippines Visayas.

Iloilo City also recently opened barangay-based vaccination centers in Calumpang Molo to target bedridden individuals, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas assured that the vaccine rollout will continue with the arrival of the Astrazeneca vaccines purchased by the city government in August 2021.

The mayor also vowed to resolve issues at the vaccination centers.

“There are problems we see in the SM City vaccination center. May mga issues sa vaccination sites, we are doing everything to attend to them. We will try to resolve these issues at the earliest possible time,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Recently, some concerned citizens who are set to avail of their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines at SM City have clamored over the long queues and long waiting time at the vaccination center. (ERS)
