Construction worker falls in drug sting

By Jennifer P. Rendon

A construction worker was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation at City Proper district, Iloilo City late morning of March 10, 2021.

Police identified the suspect as 40-year-old Vicente Sarsowa, a resident of Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper.

Sarsowa was collared in a buy bust operation at Plaza Libertad, which is also located at Zamora-Melliza village

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 1 arrested the suspect after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover agent.

Recovered from his possession were three sachets of suspected shabu and the marked money.

Sarsowa denied owning the drugs taken from his possession.  He also denied that he was into the illegal drug trade.

But the suspect admitted that he used to use illegal drugs but stopped more than a year ago.

Sarsowa was recently released from jail but he claimed that it was for a theft complaint after the complainant apparently did not pursue a case against him.

Sarsowa maintained that he does not regret anything even as he insisted on his innocence.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
