ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The local government of President Roxas, Capiz is trying to locate the close contacts of three residents who recently contracted the coronavirus disease 20219 (COVID-19).

President Roxas Mayor Receliste Escolin said the three cases include a 32-year-old male who works as a driver and resident of Barangay Vizcaya, and a couple from Barangay Pantalan.

Escolin said they may have contracted the disease in Iloilo City where they bought products for a grocery store.

One of the patients is presently confined to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) while the two are under quarantine at the Kabalaka Isolation Facility at Villareal Stadium here.

The Active Lutod-Lutod Emergency Response Team (ALERT) and President Roxas Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has disinfected the grocery store.

Escolin confirmed that the 19 close contacts of the three patients are presently at the town’s Municipal Quarantine Facility.

More than 50 individuals are also being monitored.

Escolin clarified that he ordered the lockdown of the grocery store in the public market instead of closing the main entrance.

Vendors and buyers could use the three gates of the public market.

He advised the residents to avoid leaving their houses for non-essential errands to avoid contracting the virus.
