BACOLOD City – The municipal council of La Castellana, Negros Occidental in a special session Monday suspended a member who was implicated in the P15-million PNP recruitment scam controversy.
Councilor Leonardo Bacquian told Daily Guardian Monday afternoon that the municipal council unanimously approved the suspension for 15 days without remuneration of Councilor Donato ‘Natnat’ Dumaguit.
The council also fined Dumaguit P3,000 for racking up 13 unexplained absences in their regular and special sessions.
The absences began after some 40 complainants came out and accused Dumaguit of mulcting money from them in exchange for an assured slot in PNP that did not materialize.
Bacquian further explained that Dumaguit’s suspension took effect immediately adding that “it is without prejudice to the filing of charges against him.”
He also clarified that while all of them voted for Dumaguit’s expulsion during the special session, it is only the court that can officially order the same.
Bacquian further said that while the suspension is in effect, their lawyer will prepare for the filing of charges against Dumaguit in court.
