BACOLOD City – The Sanggunian Panlungsod in a resolution is proposing to declare real estate tycoon Kevin L. Tan as an adopted son of this city.

Tan is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), one of the Philippines’ most diversified conglomerates with interests in the food and beverage industry, gaming and entertainment, tourism and hospitality, real estate development and quick service restaurants.

He holds directorships in AGI companies including Emperador Inc., Global-Estate Resorts Inc. (GERI), Empire East Land Holdings Inc. (EELHI), Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC) the holder of the master franchise of McDonald’s Philippines, Resorts World Manila and Megaworld Corporation.

He is also the President of Infracorp, AGI’s infrastructure arm dedicated to complement the infrastructure projects of the national government, and Agile Digital Ventures, AGI’s newly-formed investment arm, which spearheads the company’s digital transformation and smart technology innovation.

Bacolod City Councilor Jason Isidro Villarosa said they hope to take up this week the resolution he proposed upon the submission of a formal request from the Office of the Mayor, as requested by Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

Businessman and investor Kevin L. Tan, who took over the family business after the retirement of his father, Dr. Andrew Tan, has targeted numerous cities to invest in, it said.

As president of Megaworld Real Estate Investment Trust (MREIT), Tan has been instrumental in his investment in the City of Bacolod and thus, the impact of the corporation’s investments on the advancement of the economic growth of the city cannot be understated, the resolution said.

His notable future goals include employment to over 5 million Filipinos and shifting his company to become carbon neutral by 2035, it added.
