COVID-19 death toll in province hits 520, the highest in Region 6

COVID-19 mortalities in Iloilo province climbed to 520 – the highest and the only area in Western Visayas to breach the 500-mark.

As of August 13, 2021, the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6) has recorded a total of 520 Covid-19 deaths in Iloilo Province.

Iloilo province recorded the highest number of Covid-19 mortalities in the region followed by Negros Occidental (397); Iloilo City (385); Bacolod City (370); Capiz (119); Aklan (96); and Guimaras (33).

From August 5 to August 12, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO) logged 53 additional Covid-19 fatalities.

The latest was on August 12 wherein the province recorded ten new mortalities who are all senior citizens.

Out of the ten COVID-19 deaths, three are from Concepcion, Iloilo; two are from Sta. Barbara; while the towns of Oton, Anilao, Pototan, Calinog, and Dumangas each recorded one Covid-19 death.

Meanwhile, the town of Oton recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths at 37; followed by Pavia at 36; Santa Barbara (27); Barotac Nuevo (25); Passi City (23); and Miagao, Tigbauan, and Pototan with 21 mortalities each.

Currently, Iloilo province is monitoring 2,935 active cases while its total registered cases reached 18,522 with 15,063 recoveries. (ERS)
