COVID-19 tally in WV now at 8.5k

The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) has listed a total of 8,554 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Region 6 as of Sept. 17, 2020.

334 new COVID-19 cases were reported by the DOH-WV CHD on Thursday.

The new cases included 302 local cases, 19 Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSI), 10 Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), 2 cases for verification, and 1 Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR).

Bacolod City recorded the most number of new local cases with 160, followed by Iloilo City with 67, Negros Occidental with 65, Iloilo with 6, and Capiz with 4 new local cases.

Negros Occidental province also listed 16 new LSI cases, followed by Bacolod City with 2, and Iloilo City with 1 new LSI case.

Iloilo City and Negros Occidental reported 4 new ROF cases each, followed only by Bacolod City with 2 new ROF cases.

The 2 new cases for verification include a 26-year-old female from Bago City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 8302) and a 25-year-old male from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 8303).

The single APOR case is a 26-year-old male from Mandurriao, Iloilo City (WV Patient No. 8527).

Aklan, Antique, and Guimaras provinces did not report new cases on Sept. 17.

The region also saw 224 new recoveries on Sept. 17.

The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Region 6 as of Thursday is 4,752.

Bacolod City listed 141 new recoveries, followed by Negros Occidental province with 61, Iloilo province with 13, Capiz province with 6, and Guimaras province with 3 new recoveries.

Aklan and Antique provinces and Iloilo City did not report new recoveries on Sept. 17.

Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported on Sept. 17, which include a 65-year-old male from Kalibo, Aklan (WV Patient No. 7790) and a 38-year-old male from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 8553).

WV Patient No. 8,553 was also a newly confirmed local case.

Region 6’s total mortality tally as of Sept. 17 is now at 128.
