COVID death toll in Capiz rises to 66

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has claimed 66 lives in Capiz following the recent death of the Liga ng mga Barangay Federation President Jenifer Alovera of Brgy. Poblacion Ilaya Maayon, Capiz.

Data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) indicated that Roxas City has the most number of deaths with 39, followed by Pontevedra (8), Pilar (5), Sigma (3), Maayon (2), Mambusao (2), Dumarao (2), Cuartero, Jamindan, Panay, President Roxas, and Tapaz with 1 each.

The data also showed that Capiz has 57 active cases, or 4.11% of the total 1,386 cases.

Meanwhile, another new case was added to Roxas City on Saturday, bringing the total confirmed cases to 751.

The new case is a 32-year-old male health worker.

The city has 33 active cases, 679 recoveries, and 39 deaths.

Based on the data released by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, Tiza has 9 active cases, Brgy. 1 with 8, Baybay (3), Milibili (3), Cagay (2), Lawaan (2), Adlawan, Barra, Mongpong, Punta Tabuc, and Brgy. VII with 1 case each.

The mayor advised the public not to be complacent and always observe health protocols.

He also asked the public to stay home and avoid crowded places and mass gatherings.

He also reiterated the wearing of 3-ply face mask and face shield, washing hands with soap or sanitizer with 70% alcohol.

Should anyone experience symptoms, don’t go outside and instead immediately consult a doctor and undergo quarantine.

He urged the residents not to be afraid to be vaccinated should the vaccines arrive as this is one way to protect ourselves from the virus.
