Delta variant detected in Capiz town

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A Delta variant case of COVID-19 was reported in the town of Tapaz, Capiz.

The case was a 36-year-old male information technology service provider and a native of Metro Manila but has been working in Tapaz for years.

He first tested positive for COVID on July 27, 2021 and was released after 14 days of quarantine.

On August 6, it was learned that he contracted the Delta variant and was told to return to isolation. He is asymptomatic.

His close contacts are also under observation, and all are asymptomatic.

Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar has ordered border checkpoints to regulate the movement of people in and out of the town.

Meanwhile, the town of Mambusao has the most number of active COVID-19 cases in Capiz.

Based on the latest data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Mambusao logged 30 cases, followed by Panay (28), Tapaz (24), and Dumalag (21).

The data also showed 13 cases each in the towns of Dumarao and Pontevedra, Panitan with 12, followed by President Roxas (11) Pilar (9), Cuartero, Sapian and Sigma (8 each), Dao (7) and Maayon (4).

Roxas City has 290 new active cases pushing the total cases to 507.
