DIERGOS SLAY UPDATE: No call, SMS logs in Claire’s two mobile numbers

By Jennifer P. Rendon

Nothing was unearthed from the two Smart mobile numbers of slain businesswoman Claire Diergos.

Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief, said that the two numbers, which were part of the three mobile numbers identified in the cyber warrant, yielded no calls or text messages for the period October 1 – 26, 2021.

“But we aren’t sure if these are active numbers. Nonetheless, we have indicated that in our cyber warrant just be to be sure,” he said.

Even her family has earlier said they weren’t sure if her Smart numbers were still active.

Diergos’ siblings earlier claimed that the victim used a Globe mobile number in communicating with them.

“We are confident that we could get something from her Globe number,” Gorero said.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) Diergos sent the cyber warrant to Smart Communications, Inc. and Globe Telecom, Inc. on Nov 20, 2021 to access the victim’s calls and SMS logs.

Smart replied on Nov 24, but SIT Diergos was not able to open it immediately because a code was needed.

On Thursday, Nov 25, Smart Telecom sent the code and the SIT was able to open it but nothing was recorded from the two mobile numbers.

Apart from Globe, the team is also waiting for a response in retrieving her messages via her social media accounts, particularly her Messenger account.

“We are optimistic that it could give us favorable results,” Gorero said.

He stressed, though, that messages or call logs are still part of circumstantial evidence.

“But that would still be vital to confirm the lead that we are following,” Gorero said.

As to what “lead,” he did not elaborate.

Last week, SIT Diergos cross-matched the cartographic sketch of four persons with the actual photos of persons who might be vital in the case.

Senior Master Sergeant Francisco Lindero, SIT Diergos spokesperson, said that the team already came up with four cartographic sketch – two males from the first batch and a male and a female from the latest sketch.

The body of 36-year old Diergos was found inside her sports utility vehicle (SUV) afternoon of Oct 26, 2021 in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

She died from two stab injuries and an incise wound on her neck.

She also suffered two hesitation or tentative stab wounds on her left hand, specifically on her palm, and two incise wounds on her right thumb.

She also had scalp hematoma on the left side of her head and another hematoma on her right thigh.
