216 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Region 6 were confirmed by the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) in its latest case bulletin on Sept. 22, 2020.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region are now at 9,793 as of Tuesday, 3,785 of which are active cases.
The latest batch has 200 new local cases, with Iloilo City topping the list at 71 new cases.
This is followed by Negros Occidental with 44 new local cases, Bacolod City with 36, Iloilo with 23, Capiz with 15, Aklan with 9, and Antique and Guimaras with 1 new local case each.
New COVID-19 cases among Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) are at 11, comprised of 4 new cases from Iloilo City, followed by Guimaras and Iloilo with 3 new cases each, and 1 new case from Negros Occidental.
The remaining 5 new cases are Locally Stranded Individuals in Negros Occidental and Guimaras provinces with 2 new cases each, and 1 new case in Iloilo City.
The DOH-WV CHD also reported 184 new recovered COVID-19 cases, further increasing the total number of COVID-19 recoveries in the region to 5,841 as of Tuesday.
Most of the latest recoveries are led by Bacolod City with 128, followed by Negros Occidental with 35, Capiz and Iloilo City with 7 each, Iloilo with 6, and Antique with 2 new recoveries.
Aklan and Guimaras did not report any new recoveries.
Sept. 22 also saw 13 deaths according to the DOH-WV CHD’s latest case bulletin.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the region have now increased to 167.
Almost all of the newly-reported fatalities are from Bacolod City, with 10 new deaths, followed by Negros Occidental province with 2 new deaths, and Iloilo City with 1 new death.
Two of these new deaths, a 67-year-old female from Bacolod City (WV Patient No. 9582) and a 44-year-old male from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 9749), were also part of the newly-reported local cases by the DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 22.
