To help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Gabayoyo spearheaded a drive to give out free face masks to his fellow Guimarasnons.

“Actually nanindahan kami ni misis kahapon and nakita ko market vendors, single tricycle drivers, motorboat crews and porters wala masks. They are exposed sa lain-lain nga mga tawo. They also have to be safe,” the NBTC Area head for Western Visayas, told the Daily Guardian.

One of the most prominent sports figure in Guimaras, Dr. Gabayoyo expressed his concern regarding his fellow Guimarasnons who are still continuing to grind and work despite the COVID-19 scare.

He said that he wants to lend help to them by just giving out free face masks so that they can somehow protect themselves.

Severino Demanalata III, Reynaldo Osano Jr., Perlito Mendoza, Rey Canotal, and Scott Van Dequito helped Dr. Gabayoyo for his cause as part of the National Basketball Training Center-Guimaras family.

Also, the Guimaras Taekwondo Union, an organization where Dr. Gabayoyo also heads, helped in the cause and assisted the NBTC-Guimaras coaches.

“This is not for us or for the recipients but this is all for the Guimarasnons that are continuing to fight against COVID-19. This is our social responsibility,” Dr. Gabayoyo added.
