BACOLOD City – Two children were injured after they were allegedly stabbed by their own father inside their house at Barangay Banago, here Wednesday morning.

Police Major Ruel Culanag, head of Police Station 3, said the 41-year-old father, who was purportedly drunk, came home and suddenly attacked his two-year-old son and three-year-old daughter who were sleeping at around 6:30 a.m.

Culanag said the suspect’s wife was cooking when her husband suddenly stabbed their children’s necks with a pair of scissors.

She pacified him and asked help from their neighbors, who called the police.

The suspect was arrested inside their residence while his two children were brought to a hospital.

Culanag said the suspect has not eaten for two days.

He also did not sleep for two days after he had a misunderstanding with his wife, Culanag said.

The station commander said the suspect would usually get drunk and have an argument with his wife over his behavior.

He left their house two days ago and returned yesterday.

Culanag said the wife did not file an official complaint at the police station.

She is also not willing to press charges against her husband, who will be released from police custody after the 18-hour detention period lapsed.

Culanag said the suspect told the police that he regrets what he did.
