DSWD6 releases P6.69M aid for COVID-19 response

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI released a total of P6,692,308 assistance as part of its response for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount, based on records as of afternoon of March 31, includes P5.45 million-worth of Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), mostly medical assistance

AICS is a service of the agency for persons and families in crisis situation. Under which, medical and burial assistance is extended.

The remaining P1.24 million was released in the form of Family Food Packs (FFPs).

DSWD Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre has met with Local Chief Executives of Iloilo Province on Tuesday afternoon to ensure the smooth relief operations as well as provision of aid to the affected population.

The agency, despite the lockdown in all provinces, has continued its operations.

The food packs were released to Iloilo City which received 2,000 family packs amounting to P720,000; and Concepcion, Iloilo with 278 packs amounting to P293,840.

Pandan in Antique also received assistance, 144 food packs and 72 Sleeping Kits and 72 Dignity Kits.

Aside from this, the agency prepositioned goods numbering to 16,033  family food packs in the Provinces of Iloilo, Guimaras, Capiz, Aklan, Antique and Negros Occidental.

“The purpose is to ensure that it will be easier for the LGUs to get the goods whenever the need for our augmentation arises. We are bringing the assistance of the government closer to the people,” said Director Macapobre. (DSWD-6)
