BACOLOD City – Police in Sagay City, Negros Occidental captured yesterday a person deprived of liberty (PDL) who escaped from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Escalante City, Negros Occidental last October 16.

Police Major Antonio Benitez Jr., Sagay City police chief, said Perlito Sico, 28, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, was arrested at Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 23.

Sico’s recapture came after a concerned citizen informed the police about his presence in the area.

Benitez said Sico was probably looking for a place to hide in the city, but fortunately, an informant recognized him and reported him to the police.

No contraband was recovered from Sico during his arrest. He was brought to the police station and will be transferred to the BJMP for his proper custody.

Benitez thanked the support and vigilance of the public, claiming they were able to prevent possible crimes since Sico is an alleged threat to the peace and order in the community.

Benitez said Sico was identified as allegedly involved in akyat-bahay, robbery hold-up and other illegal activities.

Sico was jailed at BJMP for his drug offense, violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile, Benitez said that a P25,000 cash reward will be given by the BJMP-6 to the informant who helped lead authorities to Sico.
