Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial will have the chance to showcase his boxing skills in front of his countrymen on March 23, 2024, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
After fighting his previous professional fights in Texas and California, the Filipino boxing superstar will be in familiar territory as he battles the more experienced Thoedsak Sinam of Thailand in a super-middleweight matchup.
It was Manny Pacquiao (MP) Promotions president Sean Gibbons who announced the latest development together with Pacquiao himself.
“Just like the rest of many Filipinos around the country, I’m very excited to spearhead a fight for Eumir here in the Philippines so everybody will get a chance to see him fight before the Paris Olympics,” Pacquiao said.
Still undefeated in four fights with two knockouts, Marcial is aiming to continue his undefeated professional campaign and rise to the rankings of his division.
However, Marcial will have a tough task at hand as Sinam is a more experienced pro fighter, already setting foot on the canvas since 2018.
Despite holding a record of 23 wins, 13 losses, and seven knockouts, Sinam is currently on a roll after handing his last two opponents a technical knockout loss.
On the other hand, Marcial is coming off a silver medal finish during the 2023 Asian Games and hasn’t stopped training in preparations for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Everybody wants to see their fellow countrymen Eumir fighting for them for free. This fight will serve as a good fitting send-off heading to his Olympic campaign. Everybody will be there too. This is for the people,” said Gibbons.
