BACOLOD City – A son of a former policeman was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 5, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the subject as Jan Carlo Chan, 39, of the said village. He allegedly yielded 19 grams of suspected shabu worth P129,200.
Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of Silay City Police Station, said the suspect allegedly sourced out the illegal drugs in Barangay Banago here. “Ang modus niya is idul-ong lang sa iya or siya makuha,” she added.
Villanueva said that Chan is identified as one of the alleged suppliers of illegal drugs in the city, adding that they had monitored him for about three months before launching the operation against him. “Damo siya abi parokyano (customers),” she said.
She said the suspect is identified as a street level individual.
Police also recovered from him the P3,200 marked money, a car, some drug paraphernalia, and P1,470.
Villanueva said that Chan’s father was killed by unidentified riding assailants in 2019, but the incident was not related to his work as a cop.
Meanwhile, P61,200 worth of suspected shabu were also confiscated from five persons in the cities of Kabankalan, Himamaylan, and Escalante on that same day.
