BACOLOD City – Police arrested on Wednesday a former barangay councilor in Lanao del Sur after she posed as a dentist in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Arrested was former Kagawad Marwa Biston Salic, alias “Precious,” 23, of Barangay Ilian, Bacolod Kawali, Lanao del Sur.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Negros Oriental, along with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Negros Oriental, and Dumaguete City Police Station launched an entrapment operation against Salic, following reports from the PDA on her alleged illegal practice of dentistry in a pension house in Barangay Looc.
Police confiscated from her some paraphernalia used by a dentist amounting to P200,000.
Based on a report from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), Salic has no authority from the law, no certificate of registration, professional identification card, and special permit issued by proper authority which constitutes violation of Republic Act 9484 or The Philippine Dental Act of 2007.”
Salic is now in police custody. She has yet to be reached for comment.
